Bargain Love Spells is an abstract love story using footage of still life objects, dance, cell phone footage, stock video assets, frame animation, and vintage gay erotica. The clips from the porn are at the center of this work and are mined from what I view as an accidental gay love archive. I’m interested in the tender moments, the moments that give context to gay history, the moments that set up archetypes and tropes and serve as a site to study and preserve queer media. This work also seeks to venerate and engage with the gay sex workers and filmmakers by weaving their existence into this contemporary digital world.
